Summer Hopper's scholarly work centers on education policy within rural communities, with a specific focus on alternatives to exclusionary disciplinary practices. She is a Ph.D. student and University Distinguished Fellow in the Education Policy program at Michigan State University. Employing both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, her work addresses policy-relevant issues related to inequities in the education system. Her prior experience as a high school mathematics teacher in North Carolina informs and guides her research endeavors.
